ShippingRestrictions.aspx page
The main ShippingRestrictions.aspx page appears as follows:
You can use the filters at the top of the page to search for restrictions based on the following criteria:
- Brand: Select a brand from the drop-down list. When you click the Search button, your results will show shipping restrictions for this brand.
- Category: Select a category from the drop-down list. When you click the Search button, your results will show shipping restrictions for this category.
- Country: Select a country from the drop-down list. When you click the Search button, your results will show shipping restrictions for this country.
The grid shows the following details for each shipping restriction:
- ID: This is the unique ID of the shipping restriction.
- Brand: This shows the brand that has shipping restrictions against it.
- Category: This shows the category that has shipping restrictions against it.
- Cannot Ship To Country: This shows the country that the products brands and categories cannot be shipped to.
- Delete: Check this box to delete a shipping restriction. If you do so, make sure to click the Delete Selected Shipping Restrictions button.
It could be that you don’t want to let customers see products that cannot be shipped to their country. If so, click the Hide Products Restricted From Shipping button at the top of the page. This will ‘switch on’ an Application Setting that controls this aspect of the feature called Hide Products Restricted From Shipping. When this is enabled, the products that are restricted will always be hidden from customers. If you want to show the restricted products, click the same button. This switches off the application setting and customers will see the restricted products. However they won’t be able to add them to their baskets.
Shipping Restrictions are cached to improve performance on front-end pages. The cached Shipping Restrictions are reloaded from the database when the application starts and when a Brand, Category, Model or Shipping Restriction are inserted/updated. You can also update the cached Shipping Restrictions by clicking the Reload Shipping Restrictions button on the ShippingRestrictions.aspx Admin page, as shown in the screen capture above.
If you need to create a new shipping restriction, see the How To Add a Shipping Restriction article in this section.
Redirect options for Restricted Shipping
There is an Application Setting called 'Redirect To Home Page When Shipping Restricted And Products Hidden' (Product Listing grouping). This setting is used in conjunction with the 'Hide Products Restricted From Shipping' Application Setting (described next). When both of these Application Settings are enabled and a Shipping Restriction has been placed on a Brand or Category, or both, the pages will redirect to the respective Home Pages – either the Desktop Home Page for Desktop users or the Mobile Home Page for Mobile users.
If the 'Hide Products Restricted From Shipping' setting is enabled but the 'Redirect To Home Page When Shipping Restricted And Products Hidden' setting is disabled, the corresponding Desktop and Mobile pages for viewing those Brands or Categories via the restricted country will not display the products. Instead, the customer will be informed that the selected Brand or Category does not ship to their country and they will be shown either the Top 10 Best-Selling products for their country on Mobile pages or the Top 21 Best-Selling products for their country on Desktop pages.
