You can find this section under Application Settings > Site Help Settings in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.
You use this page to make help topics available on the front end of your website. Note that you don’t create the help topics on this page — you use the Help Topics section to do that (to go to that page you can click the Site Help button above the Search bar or go to Site Help > Help Topics in the left navigation menu).
The HelpSettings.aspx page appears as follows:
To enable site help, proceed as follows:
- Enter the Help Settings details as follows:
Setting |
Description |
Enable Site Help |
Check this box to make help topics available on the website. If you don’t check this box, the user’s browser will redirect to the home page if they attempt to access the Help.aspx front-end page. |
Default Help Topic |
Select the help topic that appears if the user goes to the Help.aspx page on their browser. The list of topics available depends on what has been configured in the Help Topics section. If you don’t set a default topic, the most popular help topic is displayed. |
Help Menu Format |
Select the format of the help menu:
• The ‘Separated Menu’ format renders separate boxes for each help category.
• The ‘Continuous Menu’ renders the help categories and their child menus in one overall box. |
Optional Translation |
Type an optional large translation to appear underneath the Popular Help Topics navigation element that appears on the right side of the Help.aspx page. You can translate this for any of the languages available in your system. |
- Click the Update Help Settings button to save the details.
Note that some of the same settings are visible in the 'Help' grouping on the main Application Settings page only with slightly different names ('Enable Help', 'Default Help Topic ID' and 'Set Help Menu Display Style') – setting them on one page will update the other page automatically.
