IRP Commerce recently announced an interest in Northern Ireland becoming a Centre of Ecommerce Excellence – a structure that will see Northern Irish ecommerce businesses benefit from the current trading environment.
Today the IRP Board can announce that the initiative is gathering pace and moving to an exploratory phase. After pledging to invest £20,000 as a starting fund for NICEe, IRP Commerce has commissioned a leading academic to draft a strategic report defining the ecommerce opportunity for Northern Ireland PLC.
This economic report will highlight how the wider Northern Irish economy can benefit from the trading arrangements. The report will detail how ecommerce businesses currently based here, as well as all companies wishing to relocate in the future, can capitalise on a unique situation. It will highlight the current position in relation to ecommerce but, perhaps more importantly, what the future can look like as a centre of ecommerce excellence if NI PLC works together.
Chief Commercial Officer for IRP Commerce Philip Macartney said,
“We believe Northern Ireland Centre of Ecommerce Excellence is a once in a generation opportunity to create a long-term and sustainable ecosystem in Northern Ireland that both capitalises on the current situation but more importantly builds for the future to outlast any trading arrangements.”
