You can find this section under Server Management > 301 Redirects in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.
You use this section to redirect your customers from one of the pages on your website to another page. When the customer clicks the original link or types the URL directly into their browser, they are redirected to a different page. You might want to use this technique if you no longer use one of your pages or if you want to prevent customers from going to an incorrect URL, and so forth. Using a 301 Redirect also means that the new URL of a page will show up in search engine results.
The main 301 Redirects page (301Redirects.aspx) has two sections:
Add New 301 Redirect
The Add New 301 Redirect section includes the following details:
- Old URL: This is the URL that you want to redirect from.
- New URL: This is the URL that you want to redirect to.
You can add placeholders to the 'New URL' value of a 301 Redirect, allowing Model, Brand, Category, News, BrandCategory, Kit, Product Super Group, Product Group, Review, Information, Help, Custom Content Page, Promotion, Stock, Navigation and Home Page URLs to automatically be rewritten. The placeholders use the format $$ ValueName | ID | languageISO | countryISO $$, where languageISO and countryISO are optional and the Model text can be substituted for Brand or Category. You can also use the placeholders when directly editing existing 301 Redirects in the grid on this page.
When adding a new 301 Redirect there is also an option to overwrite an existing Redirect that has the same 'Old URL' value. You can do this by checking the 'Overwrite Existing' checkbox.
Current Redirects
The Current Redirects section contains the Search bar which you can use to search for any existing 301 Redirect URLs. If you expand Other Options, you can use the drop-down menu to search for either an Old URL or a New URL or Both.
Note: If you have set up redirects, remember to enable the feature by clicking the Enable 301 Redirects button at the top of the screen!
Note also that you can upload 301 Redirect data in bulk by clicking the Bulk Import 301 Redirects at the top of the screen. This will take you to the DataImportIRP301Redirects.aspx page. For more details see Import 301 Redirects.
To delete 301 Redirects, simply check the boxes in the rows to be deleted and then click either the 'Delete Selected Redirects' button or the 'Delete All Redirects' button. In both cases, you will see a confirmation message when you click the buttons and the IRP will rebuild in-memory structures so that the deleted redirects are no longer available.
