Bulk Import Prices (Advanced Pricing)

You can find this section under Advanced Pricing > Bulk Import Prices in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.

Note: Make sure that you read the How To Set Up IRP Advanced Pricing help topic before using this feature.

You use this section to import fixed currency prices in bulk to the IRP. This is one of the most powerful and useful features in the IRP as it allows you to import large numbers of prices effortlessly. All you need to do is complete a template file and then upload it to the IRP.

When you have completed the straightforward process of configuring the template, you can stage and import the data with the click of a button.

The AdvancedPricingDataImport.aspx screen appears as follows (note that if you have not already staged some data, only the top Prices To Import section will be displayed):

Bulk Import Fixed Currency Prices

As shown in the screen capture above, there are two tabs:

  • Import Prices
This tab includes the following sections:
    • Step 1: Upload File and Stage Stock Price Import File: You use this tab to upload your completed fixed prices template file and then stage the data. Below this you will be able to view a summary of the staged data in the Staged Stock Price Data Analysis section. This will indicate key areas that will be changed by the import, for example:
      • Number of New Prices
      • Number of New RRPs
      • Number of Updated Prices
      • Number of Updated RRPs
      • Number of Unchanged Prices
      • Number of Unchanged RRPs
      • Number of Deleted Prices
      • Number of Deleted RRPs
    • Step 3: Import Staged Price Entries: This is where you import the staged data into the selected Advanced Prices by clicking the large ‘Import Prices’ button. Below this you will be able to view a sample of the imported data in the Sample of Staged Prices section. The grid will show the following areas:
      • Stock ID
      • Brand
      • Model
      • Option
      • Default Price
      • Currency ISO
      • Price
      • RRP
      • Unique Row Identifier
      • Staged Timestamp
      • Imported Timestamp
  • Create Template File: You use this tab to set up and download a template file for importing the fixed currency prices. You can choose from several formats for the file, including CSV (Comma-Delimited Text File), TSV (Tab-Delimited Text File), Pipe (Pipe-Delimited Text File) or Microsoft Excel. You can also select any of the currencies you have previously enabled for fixed prices on the CurrencyEdit.aspx page (see the How to Add or Edit Currencies help topic for more information).

For more details, refer to the How To Bulk Import Advanced Prices article in this section.

How To Bulk Import Advanced Prices

To import Advanced Prices in bulk, follow these steps:

First, create the data template file:

  1. Go to Advanced Pricing > Bulk Import Prices in the IRP Admin left navigation menu.
  2. From the Prices To Import drop-down menu, select ‘Stock‘.
  3. Click the Create Template File tab.
  4. The ‘Import Advanced Prices’ page appears:
    Download Template File page
  5. You can download a custom template file and select the columns to appear in the template file:
    • Download Custom Template File: Use the radio buttons to select a template file with your data in the columns or without your data (blank). Any data will come directly from your IRP. (The reason for downloading ‘with data’ is simply so that you can see how the values are formatted so that you can correctly format your new data; another reason is that you might want to view your existing data and perhaps analyse it using, for example, MS Excel.) You can download the files in one of the following formats:
      • CSV (Comma Delimited Text File)
      • TSV (Tab Delimited Text File)
      • Pipe (Pipe Delimited Text File)
      • Microsoft Excel (Note that, for files containing in excess of 20000 rows, it is often more efficient to use a flat file (.tsv, .csv or .txt) rather than a Microsoft Excel file.
Make sure that you select the currency of the prices using the drop-down list. NOTE: The currencies that are available for selection are those that you have previously enabled for advanced pricing on the CurrencyEdit.aspx page (see the How to Add or Edit Currencies help topic for more information).
    • Select Columns for Template File: You can customise these template files by selecting fields from the database tables described below. You MUST include prerequisite fields in the file. In addition, at least one field highlighted in bold italics are required for Price Import. Alternatively you can check the Select All Columns box. Otherwise, make your selection from the following sections:
      • Stock
      • Categories
      • Brands
      • Models
      • Advanced Pricing Stock Prices
Note that you cannot select any column names that are highlighted in bold text as these relate to fields that must be included within the file for it to be valid for import.
  6. Click the Download button when you are finished.
  7. You can then edit the data in the file, as necessary, and save it for staging and importing.

Next, upload the data template file:

  1. Click the Import Prices tab.
    The screen appears as follows:
    Bulk Import Fixed Currency Prices
  2. In Step 1: Upload and Stage Stock Price Import File, click the Browse button to find the file that you created earlier.
  3. Click the Upload and Stage button to upload the file to the IRP. You will see an analysis of the staged data in the Staged Stock Price Data Analysis section. The analysis covers the following data:
    • Number of New Prices
    • Number of New RRPs
    • Number of Updated Prices
    • Number of Updated RRPs
    • Number of Unchanged Prices
    • Number of Unchanged RRPs
    • Number of Deleted Prices
    • Number of Deleted RRPs
  4. Once you are certain that the data in your staged file is correct, in the Step 3: Import Staged Price Entries section, click the Import Prices button to import and display the prices on the IRP.

Note: Remember to Uncache the site.
